There is a politics of psychoanalysis. It dates back to Freud and is defined by the aims of the psychoanalytic cure. All other political questions derive from it, in particular the one of its influence on the general discourse. When Freud arrived in New York with Ferenczi, he thought that psychoanalysis would bring »the plague«, for Lacan, it is subversion; but the question of its function is still unresolved.
