Founding of the psychoanalytical journal Imago.
After the conflict with Wilhelm Stekel about the editorial committee of the "Zentralblatt fuer Psychoanalyse" which had been in existence since 1911, Hanns Sachs and Otto Rank together with Sigmund Freud found a psychoanalytical journal devoted to interdisciplinary research of mental life. As a result of these conflicts Wilhelm Stekel resigns from the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society.

In the face of these resignations and splinter movements in psychoanalysis, on Ernest Jones's initiative the innermost group of colleagues form a "Secret Committee". The group should "be composed of the best and most reliable of our men who would take care of the further development of psychoanalysis and defend the cause against personalities and accidents when I am no longer there," Freud states as the aim that this committee set itself.
This year On the Dynamics of Transference, On the Universal Tendency to Debasement in the Sphere of Love and On Beginning the Treatment (Further Recommendations on the Technique of Psycho-Analysis) are published.
