At the request of Fischer Press Freud writes a letter for the Festschrift for Thomas Mann on his 60th birthday. He ends it with the words: "... I wish to express the confidence that you will never do or say anything - an author's words, after all, are deeds - that is cowardly or base, and that even at a time which blurs judgement you will choose the right way and show it to others." [SF-Thomas Mann 6.6.1935]
His article The Subtelties of a Faulty Action is published in the Almanach of Psychoanalysis.
The American writer Thornton Wilder visits Freud and discusses with him the difficulty of relating modern art to psychoanalysis.
