SIGMUND FREUD CHRONOLOGY

Alfred Adler resigns from the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society.
Alfred Adler who was elected chairman of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society the previous year decides to leave the society after theoretical differences with Freud. He founds his own "Society for Psychoanalytic Research" which is later called the "Society for Individual Psychology". Karl Abraham remarks on Adler's resignation: "I don't like his latest works at all. Of course I don't trust my own judgement because I can't rid myself of my antipathy to Adler's style and manner of presentation. There is the danger that one rejects some things out of convenience, to save oneself having to get involved in reading them." [9.3.1911]
