SIGMUND FREUD CHRONOLOGY

	On his 70th birthday Freud receives various honours.
	Austrian radio transmits an appreciation of his work, the social democrat Mayor Karl Seitz congratulates him personally, pupils present him with collected funds of 30,000 marks and from Otto Rank he is given a luxury edition of Friedrich Nietzsche's works. Despite scientific differences with Rank, Freud will take this Nietzsche edition with him into exile in London.
	The yearly almanach of the International Psychoanalytical Press is published for the first time.
	Freud begins work on The Question of Lay Analysis. He gives an interview in which he shows his horror at the growth of antisemitism and he renounces his German identification. "I speak the German language and I live in the world of German culture. Spiritually I felt myself to be a German until I was able to observe the growth of antisemitism in Germany and Austria. Since then I have preferred to feel myself a Jew." [Freud in an interview with G.S. Viereck, 1926].
	In a letter to Stefan Zweig Freud analyzes his novellas Twenty Four Hours in the Life of a Woman, Decline of a Heart and Confusion of the Feelings.
	Freud visits Rabindranath Tagore in a Vienna Hotel and is, as he reports, impressed by his appearance: "Tagore invited us to pay him a visit on 25th October. We found him ailing and tired, but he is a wonderful sight, he really looks like we imagined the Lord God looks, but only about 10,000 years older than the way Michelangelo painted him in the Sistine."
