The soundproof padded double doors
form the entrance to Freud's consulting room, which leads directly
on to the study. To the left of the entrance door to the consulting
room a small concealed door leads to the entrance hall - an exit that
patients could use if the waiting room was in use. To make it possible
to visualise how the consulting room was arranged in 1938 enlargements
of photographs by Edmund Engelman which show how the furniture stood
are mounted along the walls.
There is also a Kachelofen (ceramic stove) typical of the period standing
here; altogether twelve of these Kachelöfen were used to heat
Freud's apartment and work rooms but only the one in the waiting room
has survived. |
