6 Oct. 2005 – 17 April 2006
Opening event for Freud Year 2006: Exhibition in the Sigmund Freud Museum featuring 23 works by the Artists of Gugging
After an international success story, the Gugging Artists have been integrated also in the Austrian Art’s Scene, at the latest in 1990, when they received the Oskar Kokoschka Award. Today they are regarded as Classics of the Art Brut throughout the world. Their works are collected by important museums from Tokyo to Philadelphia.
The ICC (Integrative Culture Centre) Gugging is to be launched in summer 2006 and will include a large museum of Gugging Art. As a preview, the Sigmund Freud Museum will host a selection of important works by these artists from October 2005. The artists Johann Fischer, Johann Garber, Franz Kernbeis, Johann Korec, Heinrich Reisenbauer, Arnold Schmidt, Günther Schützenhöfer, Oswald Thschirtner and Karl Vondal will exhibit representative works, primarily drawn from the Private Foundation – Gugging Artists which will play into the Culture Centre’s museum.
