Society of FriendsThe Society of Friends of the Sigmund Freud Museum Vienna was founded in 1991 andsupports the maintenance and expansion of the historic rooms at Berggasse 19. The growth of the existing collection is promoted through the acquisition of letters, first editions, documents and rarities of psychoanalytic literature. By funding the Fulbright-Freud Visiting Lecturer of Psychoanalysis, a cooperation with the Austrian Fulbright Commission, the society also supports scientific programming. Additionally, funds allocated to deferring the costs of printing make possible international publications and translation projects. A film room was created and the waiting room was renovated with the support of the Society of Friends of the Sigmund Freud Museum Vienna. Within the last ten years, the intellectual estate of Richard F. Sterba, a Sigmund Freud case study, a personally signed first edition of a Freud work and other items have been acquired. Generous sponsoring from the Austrian National Bank, Bank Austria Creditanstalt AG, the Wiener Städtischen Versicherung AG AG and the UNION Versicherungs-AG made possible the completion of the lecture hall. With the support of Austrian Lotteries, the renovation and expansion of the library was completed in 2001.
